Grantee of the Month – August 2011

Grantee of the Month

TRCF is proud to recognize our grantees throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania that promote social justice and change through their activities. Each month we will recognize one of these organizations as our Grantee of the Month

The Persad Center

Grantee of the Month August 2011

Persad Center, Inc. is the nation’s second oldest licensed counseling center specifically created to serve gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community.

In addition, Persad Center is an AIDS Service Organization providing a variety of services to the HIV/AIDS community.

Persad Center is committed to helping GLBT and HIV+ individuals and the people who love them. Our staff of professionals are trained to respond to the emotional needs of the GLBT community in a caring way that is sensitive, non-judgmental and culturally specific. Persad Center offers a variety of Counseling Programs and Services to fulfill our mission to increase the well-being of the community.

Founded in 1972, Persad Center has been providing quality services to the community for nearly 40 years.

Through strong commitment by the Board of Directors and from the generosity of the community, Persad Center is able to offer reduced fee, or free, counseling services to some eligible clients.

Persad is located in Pittsburgh, PA with an outreach center in Washington, PA and serving all of Western Pennsylvania.

The TRFC grant to the Persad Center sponsored one-on-one community organizing work with individuals, schools, public officials, and service providers in Beaver and Armstrong counties to build allies and support for local LGBT residents
